can i drop a mercruiser 888 in a boat that had a mercruiser 260 in it?

I recently removed the mercruiser 260 from my boat because of a cracked engine block and I found a mercruiser 888 they are both 70's engines will it work?

You want to go from a GM 5.7L to a Ford 5.0L that has mosly NLA parts ?????

Sure, you could do it. It would require changing out the inner transom plate (rear motor mounts), exhaust y-tube, and some wiring. Also, you would be losing a bit of HP due to the smaller displacement of a 302 compared to a 350. Probably not the smartest/cheapest option, but you can do it.

Ayuh,.... Anything is possible if ya change enough parts, 'n throw enough money at it....

But,....
You'll be goin' Backwards, by several miles...
