So I had a run in with a log and it wasn't pretty. It cracked the upper case, bent and tore gears on vetical drive shaft, and busted one side of the gimbal ring. The main drive shaft that goes into engine looks perfect, so I'm confident there wasn't any damage done to the engine internally. I'm ok with getting a new sterndrive and gimbal ring. From what I've read the gimbal replacement is going to be the tougher job in this repair. Since I'm pretty new at boating, my question is, with me more than likely having to hoist the engine out to replace the gimbal what other things should I look at replacing? I'm working with a 92' bayliner capri 2051 with a 4.3L V6 merc. Any advice will be much appreciated...thanks!
