i am replacing the shifter cable on my alpa1 gen II. the kit comes with a black bushing that sit inside thetransom plate & looks ot be installed from inside the boat & sticks through the plate to the outside area(inside the shift cable boot housing)
It seems like I can squeeze the clips & push the bushing through the transom into the bildge but what about the new one? can that be installed from the outside facing in?

why do they install it this way in the 1st place?

Unless the old one is completely worn out (which I doubt), then leave the old one in and don't worry about replacing it. It simply guards against chaffing.
