I just bought a 1988 Wellcraft Aruba with the 350 Merccruiser I/O and Alpha 1 out drive. We love out first boat.
BUT, yesterday with a full load of passengers it ran in the 170-180 range. I thought this was ok, and on a seller demo the previous day, he told me to keep it either in the middle of the temp gauge or slightly higher and to not let the buzzer sound. I never let it get over 190 on yesterday's trip, so I never hit the buzzer.
The impeller and bellows are pretty new, and the belts and hoses look fine, and there is no steam, etc. The engine is a 350 Magnum, with a carb and uses raw water cooling.
My heart is sinking today!
What am I up against? What is this going to cost me???
