Hi fellow boaters.. After my original 1985 MCM140 block went bad, i`ve aquired a 1977 donor engine with a good block.

gotten all bearings, seals, gaskets new now. and are about to put it together. going to use the 77 block and pistons, and the 85 head, carb, pushrods etc.
how to read the service manuals, got the "Manual #10 Engines- GM 4 Cylinder All 1985?1989" downloaded. but could i use this manual for the 77 block? they are quite the same these engines as i understand. thinking especially on timing, torque on the connection rods etc etc..
all inputs appriciated.
