Just bought ut 95 dynasty elanti 181 wont start been sittin 8 yrs where do we start?

We just bought it all we were told is the new motor they put in has less than 30 hrs... and it needs a battery... We bought new battery (24dc) the old battery with a charger on it sounded like starter was just spinning no engage... but when hooked up new battery it arched... big time... don't know exactly where to start... any advice appreciated... Thanks (dying to be on the water!!)

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Ya got a new to you boat,... What Motor,..?? What drive,..??

All We know at this point is it's a '95, that don't start...

It has 4.3 L cant tell what the motor is not tags the outdrive says mercruiser outdrive

Should be a metal tag riveted to the block just above and slightly aft of the starter. It will have your engine serial number on it. On your drive, look on the port side of the upper housing in the decal area. There should be a serial number and gear ratio on the decal
