!974 Drifter

We have a 1974 Drifter with a 215 Mericruiser inboard. It starts a runs in neutral with no problems. Every time you put it into gear, forward or reverse, the engine dies. I was told there may be a problem with the neutral safety switch. If so does anyone a solution. Where is this switch located and where could I get a replacement if needed. Thank you

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... The neutral safety switch, Only controls the Starting circuit...
That ain't the problem...

The 215 drive is an obsolete, rather rare drive,... Don will probably have some answers for ya later...
