Mercruiser Alpha One ROTATION

twin mercruiser alpha one. Both engines right hand screw makes backing to stbd difficult if not impossible.
Must the trim tabs be totally raised prior to attempting reversing to stbd?
Overall the boat is difficult to handle and wondering if there is a way to reverse one engine (leg)?

You should post this in the I/O section. Counter rotation gearcases are available. Check SEI industries.

Yup, hopefully a mod will see this and move it over to the I/O section. Trim tabs should be raised when backing, period.

Just replace the lower housing on the port drive with a 'counter rotating' gear housing.... As said, SEI.... Cost about $700, and you could sell you good housing for about that.... You'll also need to change the set up on the shift controls...
