Got a 1990 merc. 3.0 Alpha 1.
Been having trouble with intermitent starting since last year.
Typically the motor will turn with the key about half the time.
When it fails I wil get a click, I assume is the starter solenoid engaging.
It will generally fail 3 or 4 times (turn of the key) and then it will catch (turn the motor).
I have replaced the starter, cleaned all the electrical leads and replaced the ignition.
Pretty sure at this point I have a short in the system but before I start chasing wires I was hoping possibly someone out there might have some pointers or advice.
