Hey Guys, just bought a 2007 Stingray 195 LX, 4.3 Mercruiser with 4 hours on it. The previous owner just did not use it, so it sat covered. 2 winters ago, he pulled the drain plugs out of the block but not the exhaust manifolds, so they cracked.

Just wondering what else to change out. Oil is cleans, turns over and starts with starting fluid only. I'm thinking a carb rebuild??? And making sure it has good gas in it. I removed thermostat housing and filled it with water, no leaks detected and freeze plugs look good.

Also, where's the best place to find parts online?

Kids are waiting lol, thank you any advice!!!

Welcome to iBoats . . .

Wow, that is an interesting find. It will be tough to tell if there is anything else wrong with the engine with it having sat for that long. I am wondering about fogging oil, etc, when it was layed up several years ago. You might want to see if there are signs of rust in the intake manifold, etc.

There are many 'best' places to buy marine parts. I tend to use these guys for the kind of stuff you will be looking for. . . .

I hope you got the boat at a good price . . . let us know how it goes. :)

You can go to stingray.com and sign up as a new owner. They have one of the best web sites for info and parts numbers. All you need is the hull id number. I am a previous stingray owner and that site was very helpful.

Thank you all for the replies. Sitting in her with my computer, 96 degrees here in La. Beautiful. I'll start by cleaning the 2 barrel carb and then fuel system. By the way, what is the best way to flush the fuel sys?

Please DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It dose more damage than good, use straight gas.

new pistons, rings, bearings may be cheep, putting them in is not.
