Hi Everyone, I am trying to purchase an impeller kit here on iboats. However, the serial number on my alpha one outdrive is no longer legible. I have a 1986 Sea Ray Seville with a 3.7 merc. Does anyone know which kit I should buy? Thanks for your help.

The Merc part numbers are different on the above 2 suggestions 47-89983 vs. 47-89984. Are they interchangeable? Thanks

Ziggy has the right number, not sure where iboats got the 47-89983 number from. it's nothing but an impeller for an outboard.

The 47-89984T 5 is the OEM part number. If you want to use OEM parts only, you will have to find a Mercruiser dealer as iboats does not carry OEM part for Mercruiser.
The link I posted is for an aftermarket Sierra kit.

Hi Don, I do want the aftermarket part. However, the aftermarket kit says:

Contains:
(1) 18-3007 Impeller - replaces O.E.# 47-89983

I am just concerned that it may replacing the wrong OEM impeller.

Don't worry about it, that is the kit you want.

Looks ok to me, haven't you taken your pump apart yet?

Re: Which Impeller Kit? -- Alpha One with no Serial Number

Was planning to right after work today. After watching several videos on changing the impeller, the impeller and the Water Pump Face Plate And Gaskets look very small in this kit. They are about 2.75" X 2". The impeller in the kit is about 2" in diameter. The gaskets and impeller in the video and manual look significantly bigger.

I don't mean to sound anal, but I want to make sure I have the right parts before I take everything apart (especially when ordering online). Not a fan of unfinished projects sitting around.

Then you are probably watching the wrong video's. You don't have a Gen II drive.

I will take it apart and see what it looks like.

The problem with that, is you don't know what all could be wrong, so you could end up ordering twice and paying double freight for one little thing you needed and didn't know about.

When you follow the manual, you won't forget about something that may or may not be in the videos you watch.
Video's are great for getting a rough idea what to expect when doing a job, but they are not a replacement for a manual and on all the little details left out of the video.

True. Plus I probably should have done this last October instead of a few days before I want to take her out.

Slightly smaller impeller, used on Merc outboards, older 3cyl 50 to 70hp and 4cyl 40 and 45hp...
