new shift cable + my stupidity = ?

In my enthusiasm to install the inner cable on my newly installed shift cable, I thought I would give it some help with a dose of 2-4-C. I immediately realized my mistake after noticing the extra friction I induced.

I've wiped it all down, and it's much better, but I'm not convinced it feels like it didn't when it was new. Perhaps it's just because it is now bent around the engine instead of allowed to rest freely on the floor. Regardless, it's still much better than the old cable (which by the way was functioning fine, it just happened to break off of the bell housing when I had it off to change the bellows)

How do I recover from my stupidity? I'm thinking of testing my variety of solvents on hand to see which one dissolves 2-4-C with the least effort, and then run that through the new cable to clean it out as best I can.

Suggestions?? Should I just should leave it alone?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
