I have 2001 mercruiser 3.0 with a alpha 1 gen2 out drive. My question is where does the water discharge? is it out the prop area like a outboard? I have noticed mine is discharing water out of a hole on the transom. Just wanting to know if something is wrong or if this is the way it works.

Thanks for any help

Yes you are corect. It will discharge at the prop and out the idle relief holes on the transom.

yep, it's the norm.
my older mc-1 has water coming from 4 places. the prop hub, a pee hole on the front of the bullet starboard side and the two idle relief holes right at the transom.

granted mines way older than yours. but the idle relief ports are still there. ya can see the water, if ya look close, right by the zink on the gimble housing bolt. the pic was taken right after a impeller replacement. this would be the norm for my boat. likely yours too. though i don't know if the genII has the pee hole or not.
