First post here. Hoping to get some help. I got a 96 Sylvan sterndrive with a Merc 3.0 lx recently which sat for 5 years in a covered barn. She's only got 129 hours but some oxidation has lead to a few issues. The boat was in need of de-winterizing and I needed to tighten down the two drain plugs. The lower plug snapped flush with the block. Can anyone tell me what size tap I could use to clear that thing out of there? Is that the best thing to do? If I get this out, where can I get a replacement plug?
Thank you!

I would try an easy out or stud (bolt) remover first. The threads in the block are cast and are probably not damaged...so why not just remove the the broken plug (w/o tapping)?

ended up with minor thread damage.. used a 1/8th 27NPT tap and she's all cleaned out. Thanks.
