long story.... but i found an engine i think is two piece rear main seal. this is what im lead to believe that i need to fit into a 1979 twin engin cobalt as the outdrives and transome plates are pre 1983. anyway this engine that im considering is 1978 and was attached to a volvo system. will it work for me?
ive been diverted here from the freindly crew at THT read this article http://www.perfprotech.com/store/articles/alpha1-alpha2-sterndrives.aspx and now im here......

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,...

So long as ya still got the Mercruiser dressin's for it,...

Ya, it oughta work out...

Puttin' a Volvo dressed motor in a Mercruiser hole,... is Not so easy...

The basic Long Blocks are the same,... Everything added to the long block is different...

Btw,... As far as I know, adapters are available to put 1 pc. rear main motors, into drivelines that were 2 pc. seal motors....
Matter of fact, I believe iboats sells the couplers right here....
