Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 2 oil bottle

Don, Can I eliminate the outdrive Oil bottle on the Merc alpha 1 gen 2. I don't entirely trust the connection at the outdrive. Or, should I just leave it alone.(?)

Ayuh,.... You can pull it off, 'n plug the line inside the transom housing, but that don't change anything where yer concerns are...

Sounds like yer frettin' over nothin'...

I suppose you could eliminate it if you want to. What part of the system don't you trust?

I had an occasional 4 drips of oil coming from that area after boating. The plastic twist connection seems weak. I'll try replacing the connectors. Though, it may be the shift bushing. (not too expensive either)
