GLM Riser Replacement

Rreplaced one of my GLM risers today (going to do the other one tomorrow).
Gotta say I was pleasingly surprised........it looked very good after 4 years.

Replacing w/ GLM again!!

Yea, it looks serviceable to me. Do you replace them every 4 yrs?? Salt water?

May look good but is it flowing water? Most of the loose flakes of rust will collect here blocking the out flow. You can loosen some stuff by rapping on the side of the riser with a hammer to see what falls out..

It was working fine.....replaced as preventive maintainance.........boat is kept in salt water 7mos of the year.
This is the 1st time I am replacing them.......expected it to look worse......about 280hrs over 4 yrs.

Will probably wait 5yrs next time.

Good call on replacing them, since they are blocked up solid on the discharge. Would have done the same myself, cheap insurance. Maybe you can clean / fix the old ones and keep on shelf for "battle spares" if the check out OK after cleaning. Always good to have a spare handy if it can be had cheap enough.
