I have a, new to me, 1990 Glastron Seirra with a Mercruiser 4.3 and a Alpha one outdrive. The boat actually has a trim up/down switch and a tilt up/down switch. The trim switch is on the inside of the throttle/gear leaver and the tilt is on the outside of the leaver. The tilt up/down works, but only the trim down works. Neither trim or tilt work with the key off. I would think that at least the tilt would. It does look like somebody may have messed with the wiring at the switch. I can not seem to find a wiring diagram of this exact switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried squeezing the together? Thumb & index finger.

Key shouldn't have to be on. But Glastron might think so!

Sounds like an OMC Stringer controller.

There is a trim limit sensor on the side of your drive which must be adjusted correctly for the up button to function. That is the first thing to check.
You can read about it in Mercruiser Manual #6.
If I wasn't so stupid with Adobe I could cut & paste the instruction page for you. But I am slow and dopey with it. So if no one steps up and gives the page to you before I get back later I will dig it for you.
Sorry, my daughter has basketball practice!
