Mercruiser CW and CCW rotation ?

I met a guy who has a 91 SeaRay 31 ft with twin 7.4 engine that are V drive. He is telling me both his engine are STD rotation that mercruier stopped the CCW engines and used the transmissions to change the rotation. I'm in the process of building 2 mercruiser 260 engines now and one is CW the other is CCW not sure of the year of the boat they came out of though. Just asking if this is true or is the guy FULL OF SALT WATER lol, Thanks for any info Jamie Wheatley Wheatley Racing Engines Chesterfeild Va

Merc did use reverse rotation engines at one time, not sure when they changed to both the same rotation,.
