My 1988 Mercruiser 3.0l has a centrifugal advance distributor with no shift interrupt switch. I've seen posts referring to timing procedure instuctions for other distributors unlike mine. I wonder if there might be any help with my model's timing instructions.

standard points and condensor is just use a timing light normally. Unless you have a Bravo drive on that 4 cylinder, you do have a shift interupt

You better have a shift interrupt switch if you have an outdrive.

There are no specific procedures for points ignition distributor timing. Hook up a timing light to #1 plug wire, and with the engine at idle rpm, adjust timing to spec by turning the distributor.

If you have an Alpha drive, the switch is on a metal plate where the upper and lower shift cables are connected together.
It's not on the distributor...... Just wired to it.....
