ford 4cyl motor maybe bad

i just got a 1989 vision with a ford 4 cyl. I was told the block was cracked. i was wondering if i can swap with something different, or a good site to find rebuilt motors. this boat was just givin to me so id like to get it going. and is a ford motor just a Mercury motor?

Sounds like a 470 Mercruiser. Is there any ID on the outdrive or valve cover have a tag stamped on it with engine info?

Is it a Mercruiser or an OMC. Mercruiser doesn't use Ford engines. BUT, as mentioned by Eric, the 470 style engine although not a Ford engine, does have a Ford head.
Post some engine serial numbers, or post some pictures.
