Would this be a minor enough repair that I could just fill with Marine Tex, sand, and repaint?

It was like it when I got the boat, my best guess is that there was a hydrofoil installed that got hit by something in the water and broke.

If the boat is handling and trimming OK, And if there are no big cracks, I wouldn't worry about it too much right now, but in the off season it would probably be a good idea to take the lower off, have a piece of aluminum welded in, and the holes filled. JB would probably be fine for filling the holes, but I am not sure if it would hold up repairing such a thin flat area without some internal support, the edges would be the weak point.

Piece of cake for any aluminum welder. Don't remove it. Bring the boat to their shop and they can weld a piece in and sand it smooth for you. Had a cracked skeg done this way and it was so quick the guy asked if I wanted to wait. I did and it was 20 minutes and $30 cash. Back in the water that afternoon unexpectedly.
