Hey guys I bought a 1968 starchief and it has a mercruiser 120 in it. I haven't had a chance to test the outdrive but I was wondering what outdrives will fit. I know that it is a MC-1 and doesn't look all that good. So I was thinking that if I can get another outdrive for cheap I would just change it out. I have to replace the bellows and the hydralic line so I am going to have to take the outdrive off anyway. Thanks for the info

MC-1 is correct. 1.98:1 is the ratio you will REQUIRE. You can use anything up to alpha one gen one. With some mods you can use alpha one gen two. Or you can get an SE106 from SEI.

So I see that as long as it is 1.98:1 ratio it will work. Another question then is it as simple as just bolting the new different model on, say I go with an alpha one does it just bolt on like the MC-1 or do I have to get an all new houseing and everything for an Alpha 1
