1971 Shell Lake 17 ft. 140 horse Iron Duke motor

I just got this boat for dirt cheap, excellent condition except for 1 thing, blown head gasket.

Im having a heck of a time finding a replacement headgasket or new heads for this 71 mercruiser140 4cyl inboard.

Any help or tips would be appreciated.

Head gasket should be easy to find. Its still a current engine. Maybe you are having a hard time finding a gasket because you are looking for an iron duke gasket that was never used in a boat?

Ive just been searching for 71 mercruiser140, is kinda my search criteria, would any mercruiser 140 gasket fit, no matter what year it is?

so for future referance, what would be a better search criteria to narrow down my search better for this engine? like if i want new heads.

Ayuh,... I used 3.0l head gasket....
