Salt usage? Looks like you have some restrictions. Is it flowing well?

Im thinking a small flex-end rotory type small wire brush, and you can remove quite a bit of that stuff. But be careful it might remove some areas that can open it up and create pits or openings etc...

Here's a different opinion:

The number of hours it was actually used has only a partial effect on how much corrosion has gone on, since the oxidation occurs with or without water in there.

So: How old is it? When was it first put into use? (I take it 2006?) If it has been used in salt water for 5 years: it's time for a new one

If it were mine and I had it off, I put a new one on there for peace of mind.

Ayuh,... The Most Important cleaning you need to worry about at this point is the Gasket Surfaces....

In that picture above, it appears water may have started to leak through into the exhaust...
I see 2 spots that look suspect....

They need to be cleaned Shiney Metal Clean, 'n FLAT.....
Mount the piece(manifold, or riser) in a vise, or otherwise Secure,...
Then carefully clean the gasket surface with a Flat File....
Don't take off anymore metal than you have too, 'n keep the surfaces Flat, 'n True....

Good Luck....

Oh,... Use Mercruiser factory gaskets,...
They're a Million times better than the aftermarket gaskets I've found...
