I have a 78 17'Glastron with a 140hp mercrusier. I would like to know what the proper torque for the rear engine mounts are. My seloc book says 60 foot lbs. But I have an engine installation and alignment manual, number c-90-76235 it has about 7 pages, it says 35 to 40 foot lbs. 60 lbs. sounds a bit tight to me for a half inch aluminum nut.

You might want to double check those nuts...if memory serves me right the rear mounting bolts should be 3/4 not 1/2

TMD

If the studs look to be in good shape I'd go by the Seloc manual and stick to the 60 ft lbs.

You can take em down in increments from 30 ft lbs. first time around then go to 60 ft lbs to conclude the process.

Make sure to check what the Marine Doctor mentioned because the Seloc manual doesn't specify the size of the nuts anywhere that I can find.
