mercruiser 305 oil filter

I have the 220hp merc 305,need to change oil filter but can only reach it with my fingertips.What is the easiest way to remove it ie. what do i need to remove in order to remove it or is there a way to do it without removing anything else first.

A filter wrench is well worth the ~$4. A remote filter kit makes future changes even easier ($30)
