oil leak from dipstick housing/brass fitting

Hi,

I have an 1989 Bayliner with the 2.3 OMC Ford Cobra engine, purchased last spring. The engine started leaking oil shortly after I purchased. It would only leak when under load, meaning that it was tough to find as the boat had to be in use. It was handled that season by an 'oil leak stop' additive product, which fixed for a few months, almost until the end of last season.

This spring, I tried a little harder to find the source, and found the oil was coming from the fitting that connects the the dipstick housing to the block - under load, the oil shot out from between the flanged end of the dipstick housing and the brass fitting that holds it. It was impossible to tighten any more on the block, so I removed the fitting/entire dipstick, and re-tightened in a bench-vise. The oil leak was gone for the next two months of regular use. However, it has now come back.

I'm wondering if anyone has seen a leak from this location, and if you have any suggestions on fixing it more permanently.

Thanks.
