Yes I have just got through resealing the bottom foot and tried to put it back on, it will bolt up but when you shift into reverse the prop wont rotate counter clockwise but insteads just goes in clockwise formation, when you shift into neutral the same problems arises. Now when you shift into forward it will rotate clockwise like it is suppose to but it sounds like the splines are slipping when turning the prop by hand, but it does this when shifted in neutral or reverse. Does anybody have any clues on what needs to be done when I install the foot.
By the way type of outdrive I have is a 120/140 mercruiser.
THanks

Did you replace your shift cable? mess with its adjustment at all?

The boat controls and outdrive must both be in forward (prop locked in forward) when installing the outdrive.

If its a new cable consult your manual for shift cable adjustment procedures.

If its an old cable, this is a good time to replace it.

i always get confused on this but when not under power in forward it will clack and turn cw, wont turn ccw,
in neutral spins both ways
in reverse clacks and spins ccw wont turn cw
this is normal operation of unit.
shifter in fwd. and lower unit in forward with foot and shoe facing straight. when you put it together.
