I have seen a lot of strange engineering on things but... front motor mounts that have to be undone so you can change an alternator and water pump belt? come on. I am tempter just to make an little longer bracket rather than go through this. I cannot see an easier way. Any suggestions? The 1979 iron duke gm 2ltre.

Read a good tip awhile ago that you should have a spare belt around the engine mount just zip-tied out of the way so if you have a belt failure, you can just cut off & discard the old belt & slip on the new one without having to undo any engine mount bolts. Seems like a great idea to me & a lot cheaper than those adjustable emergency v-belts with the clip on them.
