Hello all,
Could a kind soul please post the points gap and timing for a mid to late 70's 165 with a GM 250 inline six attached to it?
My manual (Seloc) does not describe this early model and so I have no values.
Some car buffs said to set points to .30" and timing 15 deg. TDC. Have read many post as to not assume car settings work well on marine use so please help.
Thanks for the help.

Re: MerCruiser 165 tune-up help

Point gap is .016-.019. Dwell is 28-34 degrees. Timing is 8 degrees BTDC @ 650-700RPM. WOT is 3900 to 4300 RPM. Sparkplug gap .035

Man if you set that thing up like he said it would run like crap!!
