How do I drain and refill the hydraulic trim system on my mercruiser

A seal failed in one of my trim cylinders allowing water into the cylinder and the hydraulic fluid. I have replaced the trim cylinder but have not yet figured out how to drain the hydraulic fluid (which has water in it and is milky) and replace it. How do I do this?

It's actually a fairly time consuming job to accomplish. :You have to remove the trim cylinders and retract and extend them by hand to pump all the old milky oil out as much as possible, then you have to remove the lines from the pump and blow all the oil out of the lines. Then dissassemble the reservoir on the pump and clean the oil out. Put it back together, fill with new oil and run the pump both ways (With the lines still off) so the milky oil is flushed out of the pump itself.
Put it all back together and run it up and down.
This is just general information. Need a year and type pump for more details.

Re: How do I drain and refill the hydraulic trim system on my mercruiser

I removed and blew out the hydraulic lines, pumped the trim cylinders to remove the old oil, removed the trim pump and cleaned the reservoir, reassembled and filled the reservoir with hydraulic fluid, and ran the pump to clean out the pump. When I do this, the pump motor runs great, but I get very little flow through the pump. Do I need to rebuild the pump, and if so what does this entail?

Thanks

Manuals available in the adults only section. I just rebuilt one yesterday and it wasn't all that hard...

OK Thanks.

Now if I can find the adults only section I will be all set, well almost all set.

It would also help if you gave some details. Like year and type drive and pump you have.
The Adults only sticky is one of the first posts at the top of this forum.

I can't find the adults only section, nor can I find anyplace selling a rebuild kit for the trim pump. Can anyone help me with this?
