jabsco pump question

OK, I am having trouble getting water to the engine. Tested everything and think I have found the problem. After putting a new impeller in the raw water pump I can blow through it both ways with no resistance, even when I spin the impeller shaft. There are no leaks in the housing. I looked but found no scoring inside, I am stumped.

This is my problem right?

Thanks for you input.

I guess I should clarify that I think something is wrong with the pump and it should be replaced.

What model and year of engine/drive. How are you spinning the impeller shaft? Is it on the bench or do you mean you are blowing on it while installed?

The pump is on the bench. Just wanted to confirm my thought that air shouldn't flow through the pump....ever, on a self priming pump. Its a chevy/volvo 350 with a volvo 280.

I think your right. Is the impeller the correct width? It should go front to back with no gap between the cover and the impeller.
