mercruiser shift cable

okay, 3 days into cable installation. 90 mercruiser 4.3 ,sea ray185. i am trying to get the cable to go over?? the manifold,to come around the steering gear then to the connection. i have read this 500 times i know all the measurements by heart. where does the cable come to and over the manifold???? it appears there is a mount of sorts that interferes-goes close to flywheel hub thingy what side of this bracket do i go? i nned a pick if possible - thanks :mad::rolleyes::eek:

Between the bell housing and the mount,You nee some long needle nose to pull it up.

It really depends on where the shift plate is located.

Basically, you want it to go in a spiral direction, either CW or CCW so the cable end lines up with the shift plate.

seems like too tight a bend,afraid of bending the cable....the shift plate is on the inside of r upper exhaust manifold

Hooooray!!! the cable is now through.... - is there an easy way to thread it in? i am an army of one on this project....if i find a poor unsuspecting helper will turning the cable in the boat help? this thing is pretty tight through the manifold:p also do i worm itto the outside or inside of the power steering hoses?
