Tune up question on a 5.7L Mercruiser

I am new to boating since this is my 1st boat I have actually owned. I have an 1988 Sea Ray SR21 with a 5.7L. My question is do I have to remove the risers to change the spark plugs or will they come out without the removal? The reason I ask is the boots from the wires are almost touching the risers. At the same time I will be changing the wires and cap/rotor...etc for the tune up. Is there anything else I should do?

Welcome aboard,I think you are talking about manifolds, risers are the curved part on the top, the answer to your question is no, you will have clearance to remove the plugs with out removing anything exept the wires, a fresh fuel filter is a must, wash out the spark arrestor, make sure you check the gap on the new plugs,good luck and happy boating
