Mercruiser 3.0 Delco Distributor Question

I want to replace the pickup coil in a Delco distributor on Mercruiser 3.0. According to the manual, you only have to remove a retainer clip to remove the coil. My distributor has a timer core which appears to turn because it is notched with the distributor shaft. I don't see any way to remove the timer core to get to the pickup coil.

I don't see any pins, screws, clips, etc that are holding the timer core on the shaft. Any suggestions?
