Anyone know of any good outdirve jacks that dont cost 500? Im looking for something to keep at home for maintenance that is small to fit in the garage and does not cost an arm and a leg.

-maybe i should just make it with the welder...

There is a special vise to hold outdrives while working on them.
I can't think of a suitable substitute, but you could fashion one.

That's a darn good idea.
I haven't seen one of those in years.

Ayuh,....

I've got a steel benchtop,+ I just welded a couple pieces of Uni-strut to it, so the drive just slips into it...

Easy to knock one out if you can weld. Made mine out of some scrap 1 x 1 aluminum and an old furniture dolly. Sized the height so when my boat is level on the trailer my heavy-a** Bravo 3 lines right up and slides in and out.

Mine is just an added part of the design of my workbench, which is on casters so I can wheel it around the workshop. Also the lower shelf is the right height for an oil pan, so I can be draining the oil while I pull the pump. :D

Re: Outdrive work bench?

I saw someone modify a motorcycle jack with some 4x4s, and that looked good and probably could be put together for less than $100 or so, here is the one I built last winter, from left over 2x6s and some Home Depot adjustible casters, so I can get the height just right.......
