I:confused:
I have a few teeth missing on the flywheel and the starter keeps getting hung up there, I'm thinking about tackling the repair myself and was looking for some advice/ tips also, I have not found a replacement flywheel yet so if anyone can lead me in that direction I would appreciate that as well. I cannot seem to find out the exact flywheel size or part number in any of the information I have on this engine.

I have a Mercruiser 3.0L 4 inline cyl. engine serial # D836531

If anyone out there has performed this feat in the past please give me some tips and things to make sure I look out for so I don't screw anything up. I'm pretty sure I can do this, just wanted any info that would help.

Thanks

Ayuh,....

Hi Al,... Welcome Aboard,......

You don't need a Flywheel,...... You need a Ring Gear......

Are the 2 bolts that hold the Starter on, perpendicular to the crankshaft,...??
Or, are they Staggered,..??

If they're straight accross from each other,... You need the Chevy 12" Ring Gear.....
If they're Staggered,... You need the Chevy 14" Ring Gear....

Your local Napa will sell you either 1 for less than 50 bucks, I believe....

The motor still has to come out,+ you need to pull the Drive before you pull the Motor,....

I'm guessing that a "D" serial # is an older boat,....
I'd give you the link to a Factory Manual for your driveline, but I'm on a dfferent 'puter, without My usual favorites lists....
But,...
I'm sure somebody will be along,+ point out which thread is hiding it......

Good Luck....
