The bellows are torn on my project boat and I need to make sure I order the correct replacements. Here is an image of the bell housing:

I am pretty sure the I/O are year 1968. I know for a fact the Outdrive is a Mercruiser 165 and I am pretty sure the engine is a 6cyl 4.1. However I am not sure if the engine is a 160 or 165. DNR had it listed as a 160hp and the corresponds with what my book is saying. They have it listed as:

Model - Engine/Cylinder - Years
160 - 4.1L (250), 6cyl - 1967-1968
165 - 4.1L (250), 6cyl - 1970-1981

So I am starting to think that the outdrive is not the original make but a replacement.

I am new to boating and don't really know much about anything. Can any of you help me spec the proper replacement bellows?

That looks like your run of the mill gen 1 bellhousing to me.....
I'm pretty sure any gen 1 bellows will work.....;)

Hmm, How can I know for sure. Everything I am reading says that Gen I was not made until 1971. Does that mean that this is not the original bell housing type or is it possible that it is Pre-Alpha? Are there any side by side comparisons that I can see and maybe measurments I can take? I'd hate to spend a ton of money on the wrong part and have to send it back.
