engine rotation direction.

...Hi all I am green as the springtime grass when it comes to boats and hope to learn from all you seasoned vets. I have a 91 bayliner capri with a volvo penta 3.0 liter GS motor that I unseized and am attempting to start. My question is what direction should the crankshaft be rotating when the engine is cranking and or running.
I am looking at the crank pulley from the front of the motor.
