1.7 cummins turbo diesel swap

I took the Alpha 1 Gen 1 outdrive off the donor boat the other day and the bellows was full of oil.It was a thick oil.Didnt look or have the consistency of motor oil and didn't look or have the consistency of outdrive oil.
Any thoughts?? This is the outdrive that was mated to the 4.3 I am going to swap into my boat.Thx

Probably a mix of lube, grease and dirt. Let the stuff sit long enough and some evaporation happens, but probably mostly lube

Ayuh,.... Any oil has to have come from the drive, through the yoke seal,....

Any purged grease from greasin' the gimbel bearin' settles into the bellows,....

Probably a mixture of both,...
