Low WOT RPMs on Mecruiser 383 Magnum

Mecruiser 383 Mag Bravo 4V only reaches 3100 RPMs at WOT and should be between 4800-5200 RPMs. Any suggested resaons why?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Most common reason for such is a lack of fuel flow,....

So,... Check the Contents of the fuel filter for anything but clean fresh gasoline,....

OK thanks Bondo. I was on a Sea Trial on a boat that I am thinking about purchasing and the engine was really sluggish ( Duh - 3,200 RPMs at WOT...). I'll recommend that the owner start with fuel delivery and go from there. Volvo outdrive with twin props.

its a mercruiser with volvo drives?
