How do I get this zinc off? I have removed the 2 set screws and its loose but rusty washer like thing where the prop seats against doesn't easily come off of the spindle?
That is a thrust washer for the prop. Use PB blaster and take a small brass hammer and work it slowly. Could also use some heat but not a lot. From the looks of the hub, it may be on its last legs and may need replaced.
I agree, I posted some pics a few weeks back asking if they were beyond bothering with and most responses were along the lines of "I've seen much worse".
I guess I should have posted more close ups.....lol
