Are these U joints toast?

Found water inside the U joint bellows when taking off this Alpha 1 gen 2 drive. Appears to be only surface rust on the joints as they seem to function well but this is the first time I've gone this deep into a drive.

Maybe, maybe not its roll the dice. You can grease them and give a try, and if need replacing they are easy enough to be done later

based on the pic of your prop hub and the anti-cav zinc, you may be better off getting a new drive.

back to your question, if there is any play in the u-joints, they are toast. as far as rust, while its not good to have rust, pull the caps, check the rollers and crosses and go from there. a new joint is dirt cheap.
