I've watched so many videos, so many write ups but I cant figure this out.
If you look at the pictures, ive adjusted it from one extreme to the other and back again.
The first inch maybe of the tool shows its going into the coupler a little bit, but not all the way, at any angle.
Maybe my rear mounts are too high / low / whatever / AARRRRGHHH

Cant get this thing all the way in

appreciate help

What work did you perform to suspect the alignment is off. You should be able to eyeball a look thru the bearing into the coupler
to see what direction you need to go

Don't think so. Might have maybe gotten things in the wrong order? So the rear is too high or low? Just guessing

The front does have a homemade mount but that should only have raised it 1/4"

if you installed new wood that raised the mount ,you need to lower the adjusting nut alleast that much

locate a section of 1 inch round stock 12 inches or so. insert and see what direction it must move.. 1 inch will be undersized thru the gimbal bearing giving you a visual pic

Just had a similar situation and it was the gimbal bearing that was out of alignment. I beat the alignment bar in with a 2 pound mallet, once all he way in I beat on the bar in all directions. Then fine tuned with front mounts.

Unless you already have a hole in the end of the tool tapped for 3/8 x 16 NC for a eye bolt, your basically screwed. You supposed to tap/strike the end of the bar to move the gimbal bearing around., not drive the bar in .

Yep that worked.
I had tapped it before with no luck, but hitting it up and down hard with a mallet did it. Goes it smoooooooth now thanks
