Can an exhaust tube be used on a 140hp mercruiser instead of the exhaust bellows? Do you even need the exhaust bellows? Some boats have open exhaust so just wondering. If you can use an exhaust tube what is the part number? This a 1974 setup.

I did a gimbal bearing/shift cable, hose, bellows job on my '74 140 recently and purchased both an exhaust bellows and a tube and went with the bellows. The bellows is tougher to install, but I didn't want the exhaust noise that I am told comes with the tube.

if your exhaust bellows went, time for a complete bellows job as the other two bellows will fail shortly

I would run a bellows vs a tube. the 4 banger is loud enough already, no need to add to its noise

Ok. I already did the drive bellows and the shift bellows. Manual mentions the exhaust tube but does not give a part number.
