When I shift into forward gear on my 95 5.0 L sea ray the trim down occasionally clicks on.

I just redid the bracket and aolenoids on the trim motor and everything else works as supposed to just have that occasional "short" when accelerating out of idle in forward to cruising speeds.

Where to start in diagnosing this problem? Thanks in advance for the help

I'd look at the wires in the switch/handle to start. Look for anything painfully obvious.

After that, I'd disconnect the wires leading to the solenoid from the switch. That will isolate the problem to between power and the solenoids or if there's something funny happening near the solenoids themselves.

Ayuh,..... My 1st guess is the trim switch wires where they transition from the control body, to the handle's shaft,.....

Constant movement right there, 'n a high pinch factor,...
