'99 7.4 MPI initial starting issue

Hey Guys,

Got a '99 7.4 MPI that has a little trouble firing up.

For the first start of the day, the engine will start right up, idle for 2-3 seconds and die. After turning the key a second time and starting, the boat fires up and doesn't do this the rest of the day.

Any ideas as to why this happens or what the solution could be?

I assume that you have the 'cool' fuel injection system, based on the model year (1999). You may be getting some draining of the fuel from the fuel rail back towards the pump, etc.

Maybe check all of the fittings of the fuel system, and if need be do a fuel system pressure check to see if you are holding the proper PSI within the fuel rail.
