Hi all! I bought remanufactured engine and now im looking parts. Block number is10243880 . Its a vortec engine, one piece main seal. The guestion is that i bought 168 Tooth Flywheel part number 14091599. Now i when i was ordering a starter i noticed that starters have a staggered bolt holes and in my block those are in straight line. I found out that 3 liter mercruiser engine has straight bolt line. That also has 11 tooth on pinion and same power. Can i use that?

Ayuh,.... Most blocks are drilled for both starter mountin's,...

If yer block has only the 2 straight across holes, you Have to use the smaller 12" flywheel, 153 tooth,....

No Title

did your reman motor come with brass core plugs and marine head gaskets?

the casting comes up truck and ZZ4 aftermarket

your block should have 3 holes drilled for the starter, the flywheel (153 tooth or 168 tooth) determines which starter and which one of the two holes gets used.

see image below of a 10243880 block

the straight across starters are for the 153 tooth and the staggered bolts are for the 168 tooth flywheels even in the 3.0
