Bravo 3 shift cable

I'm installing a new lower shift and bellows on my Bravo 3. Can anyone tell me what the measurement would be from the gimbal housing to the hex nut on shift cable?

The cable is just inserted and the nut tightened in the gimbal. There is a tool that locks the cable core in place for installation

Does the small end of cable bellows clamp down right next to brass or should there be a space. The old cable had 2 3/4 inch between bellows and brass peice on cable. Just making sure that would be right.

If you bought a Merc cable and the collar has been adjusted so it will not turn, just shove the cable into the cable end guide till it bottoms out. Tighten the anchor screws and you should be good to go. That is so long as you didn't change the shift linkage
